Whether you're at home or heading away these school holidays, getting creative is always a good idea
Blink and you'll miss the school term, am I right?! We've got your back. In the lead-up to the Spring school holidays, we've collated some of our favourite tutorials that you can do with your children almost anywhere. Whether you're jetting off somewhere sunny, or staying home and taking it easy for the next couple of weeks, these simple arts and crafts will help to keep the little ones entertained and off screens in between (or during) playdates!
Easy School Holiday Crafts
Here are some simple, mess-free crafts you can do with only a few materials required - and most you will already have lying around!
1. Recycled Cardboard Weather Station
Create this fun weather station, develop a daily weather report, learn about weather conditions, and even make weather predictions! It's also a great time to introduce the concept of recycling to your children, and seeing what other materials you have on hand that could be thoughtfully repurposed!
You will need:
A piece of recycled cardboard, 2 small paper plates, markers, scissors, glue, tape and a split pin
2. 3D Dot Painting
Inspired by Australian Indigenous art, tell a story using your own unique symbols, colours and patterns! 3D paint in this activity really helps to add another dimension to your artwork, but acrylic paint will also work just fine!
You will need:
Canvas board, graphite pencil, acrylic paint and 3D paint
3. Super Strong Structure Cabin
Help the kids develop their fine motor skills and imaginations by constructing this wooden cabin with them. You can then decorate it with coloured markers, paint or stickers to really make it pop. Plus, it's a good excuse to eat some icy poles over the holidays!
You will need:
Popsicle sticks, glue, scissors and ruler
4. Moving Chalk Shadows
Enjoy the spring sunshine and learn about how shadows move with this fun maths experiment. Combining construction, drawing and measuring, this is a fun activity for kids of all ages.
You will need:
Building blocks/Lego, chalk and tape
